IFRUE 2026: Advancing Urologic Care Through Integration
August 27 – 30, 2026
Denver, Colorado
The field of urology faces increasingly complex challenges, especially in functional disorders where restoring quality of life is paramount. While the sophisticated principles of Functional Reconstructive Urology (FRU) and established Endourologic techniques have advanced significantly, they often exist as separate disciplines. What if we could seamlessly integrate their strengths for better patient outcomes?
That powerful vision drives the Integration of Functional Reconstructive Urology with Endourology (IFRUE) meeting. We invite you to join this unique educational experience dedicated to bridging these vital subspecialties and breaking down practice silos.
IFRUE is purposefully designed to combine reconstructive fundamentals with cutting-edge, minimally invasive approaches. Dive deep into comprehensive strategies for managing challenging cases – from BPH and incontinence (male/female) to sexual medicine prosthetics, urethral strictures, neuromodulation, and robotics. Our goal is ambitious yet essential: to empower practitioners like you with truly integrated approaches that help make patients functional again.
This dynamic program, carefully developed in collaboration with leading societies, ensures diverse perspectives and state-of-the-art content. Beyond the core clinical challenges, we’ll explore innovation, effective practice management, and navigating the modern medical landscape.
Experience a meeting planned to balance intensive, cutting-edge learning with invaluable opportunities to connect, collaborate, and network with peers and leaders in the field. Be part of the movement towards a more integrated future in urology that will elevate urologic care.
IFRUE Mission: Originators of Integrated Care
Founded in Innovation
The journey toward truly integrated care began in 2024, when Dr. Brian J. Flynn founded the inaugural meeting in Denver, Colorado. Through this landmark event and a global social media campaign, Dr. Flynn—in collaboration with esteemed society partners and a dedicated group of experts—pioneered the mission to rebrand Functional and Reconstructive Urology (FRU). While other major societies have overlooked this synergy, we have filled a critical gap. By establishing the IFRUE Mission, we created the premier site for this approach, and we remain the definitive originators of this project.

The 2025 Evolution: Technology and Endourology
In 2025, the project reached a new level of sophistication as Dr. Fernando J. Kim brought his team of Endourology experts into the mission. This collaboration successfully merged traditional reconstruction with advanced technology and simulation. By integrating these fields, we have demonstrated how endourologic innovation and simulation-based training can make complex reconstructions more minimally invasive, significantly reducing patient morbidity and improving recovery.
The Philosophy: Electricity and Plumbing
A cornerstone of the IFRUE Mission is the intellectual framework created and published by Dr. Brian J. Flynn, most recently highlighted at the 2026 AUA Meeting. This philosophy emphasizes that clinical excellence requires mastery across three domains:
- The Plumbing and the Electricity: Dr. Flynn’s trademark concept that reconstruction (the plumbing) and function (the electricity) must work in harmony.
- Function before Form: The foundational principle that restoring a patient’s physiologic quality of life is our ultimate measure of success.
Innovation Through Education
The heart of this project is the IFRUE Cadaver and Simulation Lab, which precedes the meeting. This lab is specifically designed for fellows and residents with an interest in learning new techniques. By utilizing cutting-edge technology and simulation, the lab transforms the theory of minimally invasive reconstruction into a practical skill for the next generation of urologists.
The Future: Community-Based Care
The future of the field is shifting toward a community and clinic-based model. Our meeting is designed to provide urologists with the specific tools and training needed to offer minimally invasive options in these settings. By moving advanced treatments into the community and clinic, we can significantly reduce the global burden of functional urologic disorders and improve patient access to restorative care.
Join us in Denver from August 27-30, 2026, as we continue to lead the way and bridge the divide.
